Laverne Cox

Laverne Cox is an American actress, producer, and LGBTQ+ advocate. She is best known for her groundbreaking role as Sophia Burset, a transgender inmate, in the critically acclaimed Netflix series Orange Is the New Black (2013–2019). This role made her the first openly transgender person to be nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award in an acting category.
